What Can We Learn from History?
I came across an article recently that struck a deep chord,
and I felt it was worth sharing with you:
https://theconversation.com/what-2-000-years-of-chinese-history-reveals-about-todays-ai-driven-technology-panic-and-the-future-of-inequality-254505
It explores how technological advancements across history
have profoundly influenced societal structures,
often widening inequality before reforms could catch up.
If we listen closely,
history whispers
its warnings through time.
Even over a thousand years ago,
in the golden age of the Tang Dynasty,
poet Du Fu captured this eternal truth:
朱门酒肉臭,路有冻死骨。
Translation:
"While meat and wine go to waste behind vermilion gates,
the bones of the frozen dead lie by the roadside."
Across millennia,
the cry remains the same:
a society dazzled by progress
yet blind to the suffering it leaves behind.
Today's AI revolution is no different.
Technological innovation
is a natural part of our evolution.
AI could exacerbate existing inequalities.
We cannot simply sit back
and wait for others to rescue us.
One thing I trust, deeply, is this:
Life only gives us challenges we are capable of handling.
If we believe this,
we ride the wave of change.
If we don't,
we let the wave sweep us away.
So, how do we ride the wave?
We must shift into a higher gear,
not just intellectually but also spiritually,
joining hands across cultures, generations, and hearts
to face the complexity before us.
Our ego minds are too small for the tasks ahead.
We are called to remember
how to connect with our higher selves.
When you quiet the ego (through stillness or meditation),
you can hear the guidance of your higher self,
which speaks from clarity, love, deep understanding, and truth.
This, in fact, is not new wisdom.
It is the same thread woven through
the original teachings of Buddha, Jesus,
and sages across time:
See through fear.
Reclaim your inner light.
Lead with love.
Walk in the full knowing of who you are.
You are here to learn.
You are here to serve.
You are here to dance, to laugh, to love,
and to revel in the sacred wonder of being human.
The wave is rising.
Let us rise with it—
awake, aware, and unstoppable.
With purpose and light,
Ryion P.
